A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in interactive learning. Students learn best when they are in a safe environment, which I can provide. I have experience breaking down large assignments and helping students to accomplish one task at a time. My goal is to help students see that any project (writing, reading, etc) can be accomplished with a little hard work and explaining.
For the past 2.5 years, I have been in middle and high schools working with English teachers and students. Though I often worked as a substitute, I was able to teach students lessons and work left by teachers who knew of my experience and knowledge of Language Arts. I received a MA in English Education from University of Alabama in Huntsville as well as a BA in English and Theatre from Union University. I believe that the combination of hobbies and personal interests, along with the subject matter is the key to learning. While focusing on science, I strive to introduce other related topics and probe for what each student is interested in. Further, I believe in teaching through learning. Students love to express their own ideas about science, math, and civics, and through challenging these ideas, a teacher can instruct, while simultaneously empowering the student.
