My style focuses on the processes in arriving at a solution. The learning goal in mathematics is to impart understanding of the process of working toward a solution, not attaining the solution. In mathematics as many other endeavors, it is how we proceed to a goal that is important, not the goal itself. The achievement at the end is the result of making the correct choices during the journey to the end. Since undergraduate work, I have worked in the business world, primarily in the manufacturing arena. My academic experiences have continued on some level. In times past I tutored high school math students in North Carolina. I am proficient is equations, inequalities, Cartesian Coordinate System, polynomials, factoring and functions.

I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. Walking through problems gives them a better visualization of what they are trying to solve. As a recent college graduate, I understand the high expectations and the stress that it can cause a college student, especially coming from a school where most professors expected students to teach themselves concepts. I have earned my BS in Mechanical Engineering which has enabled me to gain understanding in math and science. I have experience in tutoring students in mathematics, physics 1 and thermodynamics.

I enjoy the interaction with the students when I taught at Shoals Christian. I am more of a concepts kind of guy, wanting the student to grasp the concept of what is going on in a specific problem. I enjoy helping others and serving them through the tutoring opportunities I have at the job I am currently working. I have been able to tutor at the college level in subjects such as chemistry and anatomy and physiology for a brief period of time while I was a student at Northwest Shoals Community College. After I finished my BS at University of North Alabama, I taught for a year at Shoals Christian. There I taught high school physical science courses. Currently I am a lab assistant/tutor at Northwest Shoals Community College where I help students with lower level college math.

I have always been excited to help others succeed. I have a young daughter myself, so I am very interested in early childhood development. I have been out of college, working in the IT industry for about 8 years now. While in college, I tutored fellow students in the school's lab in the subjects of English and Mathematics. As a student in high school, I always have had a passion for math, as well as a passion to teach. I earned my Associate's Degree in Math Education from Mary Holmes College & went on to pursue my Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University.
