I have been a straight-A student my entire life and I recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a 4.0 GPA. I earned my B.S. in Physics (Astronomy emphasis) with a minor in Applied Mathematics. Though my expertise lies in mathematics and the sciences, I am also knowledgeable in topics ranging from history to English grammar and composition. Much of my academic success is due to my ability to prepare for exams. I scored a 32 on the ACT, as well as perfect scores of 800 on the SAT2 Writing and GRE Mathematics exams. I gained teaching-related experience during my year as an Instructional Assistant, in which I assisted students with math, science, English, and GED exam preparation. At the college level, I spent 2.5 years tutoring in physics, math, and astronomy, as well as a semester in a college-level general physics class working as a teaching assistant.

I love Mathematics and I often wear my heart on sleeve; when it comes to Math, I try to infect the student with that bug. I believe that most students have issues with their immediate teaching and, as a result, feel that math has no meaning to them, hence I teach Mathematics in a contextual manner, showing deep meaning for the drills imposed in the classroom curriculums most experience daily. I stress heuristic analysis techniques that have shown great results
I have tutored HS 9-12 and undrgraduate students individually in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and for SAT/ACT testing since the late 1990's. Moreover, my professional history includes many years of teaching and mentoring in both in the United States and abroad, which has enhanced my ability to communicate complex subject matter to a culturally varied student demographic. In Taipei, Taiwan, I prepared, facilitated and assessed English classes for local elementary, secondary, and adult Taiwanese students. As a recent graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Psychology, I have taken many classes in biology, physics, algebra, psychology, chemistry as well as organic chemistry. I learned how to plan, provide and educated students by teaching and tutoring sciences and English classes for four years. Throughout my working experiences, I learned how to manage and organize an efficient and instructive environment, and assist students in learning the material thoroughly.
Teaching is a great way to educate and to learn. As a tutor, first, I see the student’s understanding level. I plan ahead of time and prepare proper material. However, if the material is provided, I find effective methods of teaching, and teach each student accordingly. It’s obvious that some techniques work better for some students but not others. Therefor, I choose a good t ... read more

I enjoy both the one on one mentoring and also engaging students in small groups and as an entire classroom. The one on one mentoring gives me a feel for the best way for that particular student to learn, therefore I can adjust my teaching style to their strengths.
I really enjoy working with students and I feel that education is the most important aspect of an individuals life. I have taught at John W. North High School in Riverside, Ca. One of my assignments was to fill in for an AP Statistics teacher while she was on maternity leave. Since that day I have feel in love with biostatistics and took all of my graduate level electives in Biostatistics courses.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher my biggest thrill is helping students reach their goals with clear understanding. Not all students learn the same and so good teachers must have many stategies for diversity in the classroom. With verbal and social skills that elicit trust, I have an ability to teach students that others cannot. I don't ever attempt to mold the student to fit some preconception but rather help the student discover their strengths and deficiencies in such a way as to make their study less daunting and less mystifying. In this way the student will become a more successful learner.
