My comments on tutoring Bio-Medical Engineering : Taught biomedical instrumentation at the university level and was an engineer in the industry for 10 years.

I am capable of both structured and informal teaching styles depending upon the situation. I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. Repetition is normally the best way to comprehend not only the material presented but it allows the student to assimilate the steps and formulas simulataneously.
I possess over 30 years of academic/industry training the areas of mathematics, networking, programming and engineering. While in college, I tutored students in high school in lower level math and reading. I also taught swimming to high school students. During my tenure in industry, I was able to train less experienced employees in measuring tools and their use (calipers, Mics, feeler gauges, etc,) so that they might get a better position in the company and I received accolades from the home office for my efforts.
I believe in being an active teacher helping an interactive student. Let the student be a major part of the program and I will be there to guide and correct if necessary. Teaching is keeping your participants attention by interacting with them...you can't imagine the fun they can have and still learn.

I obtained a bachelor of science in Biological Sciences, but I was determined to strive for the best, and also wanted to obtain a greater understanding of the subject. As a result, I return to school to complete my masters in Biomedical Sciences. Although, I have never formerly tutor for an instition, I have worked with pre-teens and teens as a mentor for over a year and a half for the Youth Development Network.
As a mentor, working with children as always been a passion of mine. In my experience, I know that children learn at different speeds and in different ways. But also they tend to respond better academically when they have a tutor that they are able to relate to.
