When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. I've been able to put these skills to actual use as an instructor, tutor, and advisor for college students. I have taught Business Writing, Business Communication, and Keyboarding classes. I have also had a great deal of experience with public speaking and have played piano for more than 20 years. In the end though, it's a great joy to see a student "get it" and to help them realize their full potential.

I have been a piano teacher for 29 years, teaching privately in my home studio. I am insatiable in my pursuit of knowledge, and have wide interests. My first degree in history and philosophy influenced me in how I approached all other fields of study. I am never satisfied with a superficial knowledge of anything I undertake. My experience with other cultures has been a huge influence in how I approach knowledge and how I approach teaching. I lived in Quebec, Canada for 29 years, learned French and studied in a French university. I also speak German. I am an excellent writer in English. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a variety of teaching experience. I began teaching as a secondary Language Arts instructor with focus on reading skills, reading comprehension, interpretation of literature, and writing. I have taught students the writing process, research skills, and all areas of proofreading, editing, and revising. I have also been a tutor for homebound students at grade levels 1-12 as well as taught students in Adult Basic Education classes. I have also taught mathematics from grades 1-10 (includes algebra).
