“You love what you understand and you understand what you are taught.” I believe learning should be fun and understandable. Many times, especially in science, students do not like a subject, because it is not explained in terms they understand. I believe the key is to relate any subject to something the students already understand/love. If a student needs help in math and they love M&M’s, then you can find an equation for the various colors in a bag of M&M’s or find the surface area of an M&M. Everything relates to everything, the connection just needs to be made. When a connection is made with previous knowledge there is a deeper understanding and you are less likely to forget what you have been taught. The key is to be creative and fun.
