I love to see the glimmer in students' eyes when they understand information and make the necessary connections. As a graduate,I believe that learner-oriented teaching promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring. I have earned two masters degrees, MBA (Master Business Administration) and MPA (Master Public Administration); which has given me a broader understanding in business. I have 20 years experience in the marines, so I have a no nonsense approach to teaching and tutoring. My own two children (boys, now grown) will tell you that despite my military bearing, I am patient and understanding with kids. I believe the best way to teach children (or anyone) is to create the conditions that will encourage and allow them to teach themselves. I believe that adults model for children continuously. Children mimic our thought processes and our problem solving techniques. We teach best through example.
