In college I assisted with my church youth group and led classes approximately once a month for two years. During 2010 I volunteered with a Kindergarten class. I assisted the students with in-class assignments in writing and math. I hold a bachelors degree in accounting with a minor in vocal performance. I also studied German during this time. I have completed 17.5 semester hours towards a masters degree in liberal studies with a focus in international business and German. I am currently working on my MBA and plan to complete it in December of 2012.

I love teaching and engaging with people of all ages. Everyone learns in a different way, and it is kind of exciting to see how people think and try to connect with them. I believe that it is possible for anyone to learn; some people just have to take a different approach to get to their objective. I love the entire learning and teaching process, and I am pretty fond of people as well!
I can be helpful in math up through Algebra II, and have extensive knowledge of counseling, religious studies, writing, and have used accounting a bit in bookkeeping. I could tutor social studies up through high school because I have found such a great overlap between religion and counseling and human services. What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

I've enjoyed helping children and youth since a young age. I was a camp counselor for the Harriet Tubman Museum in Macon, GA at age 12, and tutored kindergarten and first graders at ages 16 and 17. I completed my undergraduate internship in school counseling office, and shortly after graduation worked in a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. I have continued tutoring children on my own time in grades pre-k through 6th. I have my B.S. in Psychology and Human Services and am currently working on my MSCED in Guidance and Counseling.
