A Little Bit About Me...

Have tutored for seven years in Tallahassee. Clients included high school, college and graduate students. Specialize in mathematics (algebra through calculus (including differential equations), statistics, economics, and business (accounting and finance). I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I have tutored students of all ages and abilities in math and economics for six years. I have learned that teaching quite often involves more than helping students learn the topics listed on their syllabus. My most challenging and rewarding tutoring position involved working with learning disabled students. My mother is a reading development teacher. She works with Title 1 children every day in her job. Before coming to college, I volunteered over 100 hours working with a Title 1 child on her reading, writing, and math skills. She was in the third grade for the second time that year, and by no means can I take credit for the fact that she went on to pass that year, but I do believe I helped her by understanding her difficulties, working with her as someone who was interested in seeing her succeed.
