I am a huge supporter students tutoring students. I have found that working with students helps to take down a barrier between the tutor and tutee. Students are more comfortable to work with peers than an authority. My first priority is to listen, listen to what the tutee is looking to get out of the experience. Each student's needs are different and you have to plan around them. When I am tutoring I strive to make the tutee vocal. I like to allow students to think for themselves and see how they approach the challenge. I am there to guide their thinking process and strengthen their knowledge not lecture to them.

The process of learning has always facinated me. I believe that all individuals regardless of age are able to learn something new everyday. I also understand that each individual learns in a different manner from the next. My teaching style is structured so that I try to help each student learn in the way that they are comfortable and are able to understand the material. I believe that if a teacher is able to make the subject matter fun and relevant to the student's life, then that student will be able to not only grow personally, but be able to change the world around him. After earning my BS in zoology with a minor in psychology, I worked as an educator at a local zoo working with elementary aged children. This was my first experience teaching and I soon realized how fun and rewarding educating could be. I continued my education to achieve my MS in behavior, ecology, and evolution. While working towards my MS degree I taught labs for 2 years for both majors and non-majors ranging from biological concepts to taxonomy, organismal biology, and general biology. My responsibilities teaching labs was as a lecturer and mentor, helping students with problems and assignments outside lab as well as with the lab task at hand.
