Tutoring for Elementary Children

I have never been a tutor before, but I am in college right now for a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have great math and English skills and would like to put them to use tutoring children. I am patient and great with children. I have worked with children for a very long time. I took courses in high school, where we ran a preschool and were in charge of teaching lessons. I have also helped my mother with her daycare for over a decade.
I am very patient and laid back. I don't like to stress anyone out, including myself. I will explain something as many times as it takes for the child to understand.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching Reading Strategies and Basic Math at a community college for approximately 10 years. I have also taught pre-school, 3rd/4th in one classroom, and 5th, the last 2 classrooms were self-contained. I first try to determine what level of knowledge my "students" had. Then, building on that, I would add layers until the group I was with understood the material. I would check with them frequently to make sure they understood what we just covered and I allowed questions at any time. If necessary, I would back up and try a different approach. My goal was to make sure they understood the material, whatever it took.
While I have no "official" teaching experience, I was frequently required to teach other members of the various teams I was on as well as people from other groups. This involved everything from tutorial presentations to a large and diverse group down to individual tutoring at the table in my office. Most people told me I was pretty good at it.

Children are our heritage. Children have an innate desire to learn and I believe that with proper guidance, each child can be successful.
