I began working in Tangipahoa Parish February of 1983. I tutored in the Migrant program When our school moved I moved to a 6th Grade class where I taught self-contained, team taught, etc. When we moved, once again, to a new school I with Mrs. Deborah Ellzey as a team-teacher. I taught Math, Science, and Social Studies. I have continued to teach with varying class situations in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade subjects and am currently teaching 5th Grade Math Enrichment. My teaching style is best described as a balance between a healthy relational presence and an interesting conveyor of teaching and information. In other words, I combine "popular, upbeat, and friendly" with "engrossing, unique and interesting." Sensitivity's employed in that I notice the demeanor and countenance of the learner to help the student remain hopeful, optimistic and goal-setting, or at least goal-friendly. I have a liberality in terms of classifying students: some are on the "linear, forward moving, measurable" end of the spectrum, and some are on the "organic, unique, quiet and absorbing" end.
