After serving 4 years in the US Air Force I got out and completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of West Florida. I relate well to high school and college students. I'm from Indiana originally and decided to come back and pursue an MBA at the University of Indianapolis. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them see the beauty of math and science. I have 4 years of tutoring chemistry labs (up to Organic II and Inorganic) and one-on-one student tutoring. As an engineer, I love math, and I love tutoring math. Every student has a different way of learning, and I try to find the best way for every one, playing and learning, real problems applied, flash cards, drawings, etc. I truly believe every body can learn, understand and become to love math in the way that I do. I always try to encourage the student to do the problems on his or her own, especially in math. I feel I have enough experience in math to be able to try different angles or come up with examples to help the student understand the concepts. I hope to help the student think positively and realize that he or she can do anything if he or she believes.
This past school year I worked with a senior high school student on his pre-calculus schoolwork; we met once a week and he was able to improve his grade enough to pass the class and keep his athletic scholarship to Indiana Tech. I also mentored a freshman high school student in the area once a week and participated in the tutoring program at the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility.
