Learning Can be Easy and Fun!

I am very patient and I make sure the student thoroughly understands a topic before moving on. I motivate the student to succeed and teach good study skills and test taking skills. Normally, I use the student's textbooks and classroom materials during our lessons. For standardized tests, I use prep books, such as Princeton Review. Students do best when they are encouraged and receive positive feedback. My students are extremely satisfied after our lessons, and I receive wonderful feedback from children and adults I tutor.
For the past 10 years I have been tutoring, working with students and helping them in various subjects. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Binghamton University, SUNY in 2005. My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : I have had much success helping students through pre-algebra. With the fundamentals to algebra and the beginning concepts in geometry being introduced, students can struggle if their math foundation is not strong. It is important to address any difficulties before discouragement sets in. Specific weaknesses are sometimes masked, especially if scores are inconsistent; or if the student doesn't "test well"; or if the student generally struggles with organizational or basic arithmetic skills. When working with a student, I can quickly assess and readily address underlying weaknesses, by looking past whether any one problem is right or wrong, to analyzing how they are thinking about the question, what are their math habits, how is their math vocabulary, and so on. I reach for the overarching skills and disciplines that will build math ability and confidence overall. We build general problem solving skills. We work on accuracy. I use simple ideas and illustrations to explain concepts in a way that is easy to understand and easy to remember. It starts by connecting with them at their level. Results don't lie. Please take a look at the reviews left for me here https://www.wyzant.com/Tutors/mathzap to see if I would be a good fit for you. You can message me here or there to confirm that is really me. I'd love to hear from you!

I am an established, experienced math and chemistry tutor and have taught SAT math test prep for a private company. I cover elementary school through high school level math, including homeschooling assistance, and SAT/ACT math test preparation, some college level math, as well as other standardized math tests. Including private school entrance exams. I tutor high school and introductory college chemistry, as well as the science sections of many standardized tests, including Praxis, TEAS, ASVAB. I hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, minored in math in college, even tutored math while in high school. I've tutored 100s of students of all abilities and that length and breadth of experience helps me help you.
My goal is to connect with the student at THEIR level. We start by going over the basics of problem solving and work from there to foster independent thinking. I use varied approaches wh ... read more

7 years of tutoring experience + 4 years in fin industry

8 years of experience with students of different ages and abilities. I enjoy working with students one on one and in small groups since that helps to focus on their weak sides and work them out. I try not only to help students memorize techniques but ask them to create new ways of solving problems which stimulates their creative thinking. As a nonstop student, I know that practice is the key to any course. The more you practice, the more confident you get. So I never lose a minute at my classes and try to maximize productivity. My teaching style depends upon the learning preferences of the student, as I know each student has their own way of learning. I’ve worked for Volkswagen, Deloitte, Anheuser Busch as a Financial Analyst, preparing for CFA level III at the moment. I have helped more than 50 students to get highest results for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, GMAT, MCAT, LSAT, Math, Algebra ... read more

Believe in yourself, and you are half-way there!

My teaching style depends on the student. I am comfortable with trying different study methods in order to figure out why my student is having trouble with a particular subject.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. I try to figure out what works best for every individual and help them focus on their strength and improve their weaknesses.
