I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York at SUNY New Paltz and I have matriculated into the Master of Arts in Biology program at the same university. As a result of my many research and laboratory reports I have excellent writing and typing skills and have completed many writing assignments including numerous essays in various fields as a requirement of completing my Bachelor of Science degree. I started my career as a 5th grade teacher and became very interested in Special Ed. In 1973 I joined the West Park Union Free School a newly legislated Special Ed. school as a teacher/ administrator. I moved to Educational administration in 1986. I returned to the classroom in 1990. I retired from public education in 2003 and became a teacher for Our Lady of Lourdes HS. I created a special program there concentrating on learning disabilities, study skills and other problem areas. I am now again retired. I have taught on every level from preschool to college. I am proficient in English, Social Studies, Earth Science, writing and Special Studies.

In my experience, the approach that works best with all ages is to form a cooperative bond to make the effort more a “we” project than a “you-must-do-this” one. We set goals to be achieved step-by-step, so that the student learns about the process of studying, rather than simply making the “grade.” In general, I follow the steps, including “preview- view- review,” outlined in my book, How to Do Your Best on Tests.
