My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I am NYS certified in Literacy (grades 5-12) and English (grades 7-12), although I have several years of experience with children as young as Kindergarten.

Holding active NYS certifications in both English and Literacy has had a tremendous impact on the way I teach. I find myself much better able to engage struggling students. Quite often, particularly when it comes to reading, it is the lack of basic comprehension skills that prevent students from being able to fully engage with a text and to perform critical thinking tasks. Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

I have recently graduated from college. During my time at CSI I founded and ran the writing club "A Reason To Write" for three years. The club focused on helping students develop their creative writing skills. We also helped tutor students who needed assistance in writing essays. Part of my job as a leader in this organization was to develop lesson plans and activities designed to help sharpen the abilities of the club members. Under my leadership we received the Academic Club award in 2013 and Club of the year in 2014.
