My comments on tutoring Writing : I have a BLA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington and a BA in Art. I believe my abilities to listen, comprehend, and produce sensitive design directly translate to writing. To write well, one must be consistently aware of the objective and searching for creative ways to express thoughts and opinions.

I spent thirteen years in college, and participated in many study groups. Every group has a person who leads, I have generally taken that role. I have also chosen professions where working in groups is the norm. I enjoy active problem solving, looking at all potential solutions, and digging for the best. I think these skills have lead me to being an exemplary employee. Officially I have only served as a tutor on a volunteer basis; for the last six years I have primarily dealt with elementary school aged children. However, I believe that I have more than sufficient skills to deal with all students.

Tutor for the summer

I am a speech therapist with 11 years and experience. I have worked with students pre-k through 12th grade, primarily pre-k through 5th grade. I have extensive experience working with students on reading comprehension, answering and asking questions, semantics of language (antonyms, synonyms, multiple meanings of words, attributes, categorization), syntax, grammar, phonics and much more! I have mainly worked with kids with disabilities, including autism, developmental delays, communication delays, speech and language impairment, and Down Syndrome. I have just begun working as a tutor and have one middle school student whom I am helping with English and Social Studies. Both of my high school aged daughters take French and I regularly help them and one of their classmates with language homework, as well as with history, language arts, and writing. The study of language requires lots of grammar practice. I have gained a better understanding of English grammar as a result of my experience leaning French.
