A Little Bit About Me...

I am a veteran teacher of nearly 28 years. As a teacher at Perrysburg High School, I have taught every level of English from grades 9-12. I have taught English to students who struggle with the subject and I have also taught honors level students. For a ten year period I taught journalism classes at the high school and advised the school newspaper. I am experienced at teaching writing skills which include simple expository writing, more complex writing and research papers. At Perrysburg I tutored students in many different subjects in the school writing lab. I feel I am able to help any student of junior high or high school age.

I recently received my Bachelors degree in High School Ed with a focus on social studies and I am currently in the process of receiving a Bachelors in history at the end of this semester as well. I also am enrolled in the Graduate program at Lourdes to receive my endorsement to teach K-12 Reading. I also was a certified child care administrator for the YMCA for 6 months in 2006 but had to step down due to my student teaching responsibilities.
Very hands on with a strict demeanor initially that I relax as I gain my students mutual respect. I believe in differentiating instruction as every student learns and retains information in different ways and the best way, in my mind, to teach a student is by covering as many of the multiple intelligences as possible with a focus on that particular students specific strengths and learning style.
