A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated cum laude from Kent State University Stark with a BA in English and dual minors in Writing and History. The courses that I completed required an extensive amount of research and writing, in which I excelled. I also completed coursework in Grammar and in Tutoring Writing, an upper division English class which allowed me to gain employment in the University's Writing Center. As a tutor in the Writing Center I worked one-on-one with individual students on a variety of different subjects, organized Grammar Workshops, and visited classrooms to instruct students on the Writing Process.

Within my classroom and tutoring sessions, I make sure the student(s) know exactly what I expect from them, which is primarly for them to try their hardest. I maintain a caring and nurturing attitude when I teach while at the same time encourage and motivate my students to work hard. I am very patient and enjoy working with students of all ages. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in special education at Kent State University, and have a Bachelor's degree in Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences. I have not tutored before, but I have previously worked in various settings that allowed me to work with students in trying to achieve their Individualized Education Plan goals. My experiences have covered many different subject areas and daily functional skills as well. In my experience, a person needs to be confident in him/herself in order to succeed. Learning of scholastic material is two fold: personal and academic development. By understanding the manner in which the student comprehends new information, we then can build upon their foundation by removing the frustration and replacing it with confidence that will extend into their personal life as well.
As a bilingual, internationally traveled persona, I have tutored students of all ages. From 1999-2003, I have served as a third grade Teacher's Aide focusing on on reading, memorization and basic math tutoring. Since 1999, I also have tutored middle, high school, and college students in pre-algebra, algebra, geography, computer skills, writing, and grammar. My master's degree has trained me in learning techniques.
