I elected to be a stay at home mom after a successful career. I wanted a flexible work schedule and thought about tutoring. I found that I loved tutoring students ranging from elementary to college level. I found much satisfaction in students' improved grades and the mastery of the subject that I was able to impart. I love opening students' eyes to the wonders of science. It is my experience that a student can learn anything, even the most complicated scientific theories, if the teacher is patient and engaging. In teaching, I find the key to unlocking the minds of the students is to find the appropriate analogy or metaphor. If a teacher can aptly relate a concept the student doesn’t understand to one that the student does understand, not only will the student learn the new concept, they will be far less likely to forget it in the future.
