I graduated from Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland and Pushkin’s Institute of Foreign Languages, Moscow, Russia with MA in the field of Linguistics. Later, I had an opportunity to attend Kean University, from which I obtained four teaching certificates in the following areas: ESL, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Elementary Education, and Foreign Language. A Little Bit About Me...

Having to live and work in a real world outside of educational system and academia has given me valuable experience, and a new appreciation for applicability of subjects I teach and tutor. As a licensed pilot I found a new meaning for knowledge physics and mathematics, which are essential in flight planning. As a real estate professional, I realized that you may have a good product but if you don't know how to package it, your clients will bring their business elsewhere. Showing substitution techniques when the student has to deal with abstract letters and symbols has been very effective. Also, stressing the importance of practice tests as well as the skill of time management is important. Critical is an open communication and a awareness and sensitivity to the students learning needs / skills.
Studying for my MA, I held a TA and found that I had a talent for connecting with students. Although I pursued a business career, specializing in electronic payments, I tutored Math on a part-time basis because I found it rewarding especially when students who told me they "hated math" liked doing math with me and subsequently scored well on their tests. In the last 3 years I had 2 students that achieved perfect 800s on their math.
