I have always been an exceptional math student. I have won many awards in the areas of calculus and engineering. I received a 30 on the math portion of the ACT. In my final year at MTSU, Spring and Fall 2010, I had the pleasure of tutoring in mathematics. I worked for both the department of mathematics and the athletic enrichment center, each providing a different tutoring experience. This tutoring, coupled with my extensive math coursework, has provided a greater mathematical understanding and teaching experience. Tutoring students and resolving confusion are simply additional problems to solve in math. Since many students learn in different ways, one must be able to explain the same concept in various ways. The development of these alternate methods of description is a great way for not only the student to learn but also for the tutor to better understand the material.

My interest for helping people emerges from the fact that I want to be a physician. I have plans to return to Middle Tennessee State University in January 2012 to earn my PhD in Math and Science Education.
