I believe that everyone is teachable, if the student has the desire and the teacher has the commitment. I tend to be a patient teacher, with high standards. I actively question the student, which allows me to challenge the student in my presence, where I am able to guide him/her. While I have predominantly tutored college students, I have also taught adults and children. My sister-in-law is probably my biggest supporter, since she has watched me teach my nephews (now 9 and 10) an array of subjects over the years. I try to work at a pace that is comfortable for the student and also meets the academic requirements for their program. I have a lot of patience and encourage students to try even when they are not familiar or comfortable with a subject. The first step is always the hardest. I believe anyone can learn and feel no one is too old to go back to school. Learning and education should be encouraged no matter what stage of life we are at.
