Never stop learning!

I truly believe the strength of my teaching/ tutoring style is my devout compassion. I am able to exemplify extreme focus, patience, motivation and due diligence because I ultimately care about the success of the students I tutor. My initial step in the tutoring process is to perform a thorough analysis of the students comprehension of the subject. Once I'm aware what the student understands and don't understand a unique and proper game plan is developed to reach a confident grasp of course material.
I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. My approach to tutoring is that all students want to learn, some just need more of a push that others. It is my job to make the subject more relevant, interesting and understandable for them. I assume everyone is capable of learning the material and I am very skilled at differentiating my instruction to suit the needs of all levels of learners. I believe parents have a hard enough job, and it is sometimes best for someone else to tackle school subjects where the students are not thriving. Students often benefit from a fresh perspective and if their self-esteem is at all suffering from difficulties at school, having a new person involved in their lives can help them feel more confident again.

In my opinion my teaching would have to be considered unique. Usually I teach math in laymans terms and use analogie that students can relate to. Once the student understands the concepts I can then express the same ideas in the more rigorous mathematical terms. I also teach so that the student becomes active in his or her learning experience. I try to help the student to realize that math is not as difficult as it is made out to be. Over the course of my tutoring career I have employed a strategy of helping the student to understand more of the mechanics of mathematics and depend less on shortcuts that do not foster learning or, even worse, do not work. I would say that I have a great deal of patience and understanding. I realize that it is very unlikely that students will grasp the new concepts immediately, let alone several new concepts, and so repetition occurs often. Althoug ... read more
