My comments on tutoring College Algebra : I have tutored high school Algebra I and II, which are the components covered in College Algebra. I also took College Algebra as a junior in high school through PSEO and excelled in the course. I would love to help other students better understand the material.

I have been tutoring students for about 5 years. I started when I was a junior in high school. My first experiences tutoring were through the National Honor Society. I volunteered after school once or twice per week and I tutored mainly ESL students in Math and English. My senior year of high school and throughout the time I was in college, I tutored a high school student who had educational and developmental deficits. He needed help in all of his core classes from 8th grade through 12th grade. I tutored him in Pre-Algebra through Algebra II, History, Science, and English. I also tutored at Columbia Heights High School for 6 months, conducting tutorials for groups of 6-7 students. Need a good Math tutor? Look no further!

I have been a tutor since high school. In HS I tutored for ESL (English as a Second Language). More recently I have been a Math tutor at Augsburg College. I am proficient in the subjects ranging from pre-algebra to calculus 3. I am pretty good with statistics and logic (Discrete Math) as well. I also have experience teaching younger children as well. It is my hope that by helping other people with Math they will learn to like it as much as I do.

I believe that every person has an optimal way in which they learn. Ideas that seem complicated can be made easy by simply changing the way in which it is presented. As a teacher it is important for me recognize how my students best learn and use that to present material. I also believe that students need to feel comfortable with their teachers. That is why I make an effort to get to know my students on a personal level. Knowing the things that are important to them helps to make a connection and can motivate them to learn.
