My comments on tutoring GMAT : I tutor the math portions of the test - the quantitative section and integrated reasoning. We review necessary math skills, and strengthen fundamentals so you are equipped for the data sufficiency questions, and I give you the tools needed to quickly arrive at answers without the calculator. I teach a way to read the word problems to correctly set up the question being asked. We work on timing as well, making sure you are solving only enough of the problem to answer the question. Results don't lie. Please take a look at the reviews left for me here -- https://www.wyzant.com/Tutors/mathzap -- to see if I would be a good fit for you. You can message me here or there to confirm that is really me. I'd love to hear from you!

My goal is to connect with the student at THEIR level. We start by going over the basics of problem solving and work from there to foster independent thinking. I use varied approaches when the student is "stuck." I am friendly, patient and very persistent. I can assist with classwork and homework, and will tailor tutoring sessions to your needs. I will assign supplemental work to advance in the subject area as needed or desired. My ultimate goal - to work myself out of a job!

I have tutored over 30 different students in nearly all academic areas, including SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT and Academic Programs for grades K-12. I am currently a law student at Pace Law School in White Plains, NY, and I would love to continue educating bright young minds.

As a graduate of a liberal arts college and a graduate program of a Jesuit university, I am a strong supporter of the process of learning and how to optimize that proces for each individual. I have earned one bachelor degree, a BA in Business Policy, a major I petitioned and was granted pernmission to design by officials at Hartwick College. After Hartwick and prior to entering Georgetown, I worked for an administrative division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in several capacities, each of which required writing statements about complex policies and outstanding issues, many of which statements were distributed to to the Governor's and Speaker's offices, as well as published in The Boston Globe and Boston Herald. In addition to serving on the Board of the John Winthrop School in Boston's Back Bay, my work at InfoLibria brought me very close to education issues facing secondary-le ... read more

It seemed I was always studying for something during the first 25 years of my life. First it was accounting in college followed by the CPA exam and then graduate school at night. I always enjoyed being a student and took advanced math classes including calculus with analytic geometry I & II. I am an avid reader and believe the book is always better than the movie!!
I love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe in a constructivist learning theory which suggests that learning is more effective when a student is actively engaged in the learning process rather than attempting to receive knowledge passively. It is a guided discovery where I will lead my student through questions and activities to discover, discuss, appreciate and verbalize the new knowledge. All students can achieve their academic goals if given the appropriate support and instruction that fits the ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught a computer "cap-stone" class to graduating seniors part-time at the Katherine Gibbs school for 1 semester. There were approximately 14 Seniors in the class and we utilized all of the Office programs from the creation of letterheads to the writing of business correspondence to mythical persons about various subjects. Subsequently I tutored high school seniors for the Princeton Review, an SAT prep business, for about a year and a half. This experience included working with many types of students and was a perfect venue to utilize my extensive consulting experience. As a turnaround management consultant for over 25 years, I was continually "teaching" people to implement the changes required to succeed.
My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant pra ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style concentrates on the task I ought to solve. If I teach a group of people, I give a brief exam first. Tutoring individuals allows me to concentrate on one person and develop a winning strategy to motivate and teach the student for the given subject. Repetition, breaking down complex problems to simple ones and enthusiastic explanation is mainly my style. I am always adjusting to the individual who has to learn.
I have been tutoring Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics since an undergraduate student. I also tutored English in Europe for several years and prepared my students for the TOEFL. I have been also teaching economics and finance because in 1995 I took the series 7&63 stockbroker licence and in 2000 I passed the LIFA, licensed international financial analyst exam.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate of a rigorous medical school program, I have been able to succinctly summarize and whittle down an extraordinary amount of information into actionable parts. As a result of my experience, I am able to teach friends, college and medical school colleagues need-to-know knowledge(English, biochemistry, physics, statistics, mathematics) in an time-constrained environment.
I love imparting knowledge and observing a lot of "aha" moments when a person understands the material. I would describe my teaching style as engaging, relaxed but focused on learning the pertinent material. I present to the pupil/student 2-3 different approaches to a problem and have them pick one approach he/she is most comfortable with.

As a graduate from Brigham Young University (BYU) with two degrees, I am motivated to excel in education and/or business. My first degree was a BA in History Teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

The motto of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society is "Love of learning is the guide of life". I live my own life by this ideal, and I try my best to instill a love of learning in my students. Too many students believe, indeed have been taught, that math is just a series of formulas and recipes to be learned and memorized. Understanding concepts doesn’t seem to be necessary or even desirable. No wonder students “hate” math! I believe that understanding important concepts is essential to learning math, and that obtaining the "right answer" is less important than trying to understand a problem and “discovering” a method to solve it, even if that method is “not what the teacher is looking for.”
I am a young Wall Street retiree with degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Finance. I have tutored students in Mathematics since my days on the Math Team at Stuyvesant High School. I w ... read more
