A Little Bit About Me...

As I think of my life without teaching, I cannot imagine what else I would be doing. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways. Some through listening, some through reading or watching, and some through doing. My goal is to find the way that works for each child and use that method to help them on their way to reaching their full potential.
I graduated from the University of Wyoming within 3 1/2 years and student taught in first grade. Since then, I have been teaching in several preschool programs and spent part of one year as a long term substitute for a Title 1 program. This position enabled me to spend extra time and gain experience in the Guided Reading program.

After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., I returned to Wyoming to work in politics and government. While I will guide them, test them and occasionally point them toward appropriate reference materials, I do not do the work for them....that's their job and the only way they will develop the appropriate learning skills, self-confidence and a thirst for knowledge.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started teaching while in college; I worked as a Teaching Assistant when school was in session (teaching college students) and as a camp counselor at a French immersion camp in the summers. This allowed me to work with students ages 8-22 and to develop different teaching styles for different ages. I am currently writing my PhD thesis; although the subject is Francophone, I'm writing in English and feel that I have strong writing skills and the ability to teach them.
