A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of an excellent college (Columbia) with a major in mathematics, I feel that I am well trained for the position of mathematics tutor. I have 5.5 years at Michigan Technological University in the studies of Mechanical Engineering. I currently take classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in their certification for CAD Specialists. I have substitute taught in the pass for a few months, mainly elementary level kids. I also hold a minor in Foreign Language-German from Michigan Technological University. My passions are Math, Science and Computer Aided Design programs. I also am interested in photography, ceramics and my other art forms. While taking classes at Community College I tend to be a person everyone comes to for help in all my classes I taken. I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.
In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience. As a manager and mentor, I also prefer to teach a concept and return to it when the student has an opportunity to use it in their work. It is important to be able to adjust your teaching style to the needs of the student, and I love the challenge of being able to do this.
