I am an upcoming May 2006 graduate from Allegheny College, majoring in English. Given my background at a small, liberal arts college and being a former biochemistry major, I have a great understanding of language arts, math and science. I have completed a 60 page research project as well completed numerous written projects throughout my college career, that have undoubtedly strengthened my writing skills. When I became a teacher one of my professors taught me something that I have used in all my work. He said "teach those who learn, inspire those who will be inspired and love all the rest since you never know what will cause someone to want to learn or to be inspired". I have applied this to teaching, coaching anc consulting. in that I appraoch every situation as a teaching opportunity. In teaching I generally view problems 3 dimensionally and when explaining try to have several approaches as no one approach will fit all. I pose questions and assist with the solving of the question and ask for explanation of why the answer given was chosen. In this way it is more often clear what the student's confusion is and helps focus additional instruction to successfully teach the information.
