My B.A. is in History and Social Behavioral Science. This encompasses Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Economics and Political Science. After graduating second in my class with a 3.9 GPA, I started working for the Art Institute of Chicago. During the last five years, I have worked with children of all ages and at all developmental levels. I also have been responsible for grading coursework in all subjects in the classroom. In addition I have developed lesson plans for small groups. I tutored college level students in Spanish as part of my work study. Although the bulk of my tutoring experience has been with university students (two years), providing instruction in basic, mid-level and advanced Spanish coursework, I feel there are a few others worth mentioning. From February to November of 2010, I worked for a non-profit in Bolivia as both a translator and a tutor in a home for children aged 5-13. Several years before when in high school, I worked as a trombone instructor for elementary and middle school students from district 204. The reason I mention these two experiences is that, for all their differences, they did have some things in common: They both required patience and reflected how integral a student’s desire to learn is to their success.
