I have a good experience of tutoring hundreds of students over a decade period of time. I have tutored from first grade student to bachelors' degree students. I have formally taught students from grades four to ten for six months as a science teacher. Recently, I helped my wife in Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Lab and College Algebra. She got straight A's in them upgrading her GPA. I have successful tutoring experience in Pre-Algebra. Before I started tutoring, the student was doing classes online, skipping lessons, and going directly to the tests, and had an average of 40% in the class. I worked with him the entire second semester, and he finished with an average of 80% in the class. In short: I'm a college freshman who is going into Math Education at the middle/high school level. As a disclaimer, I've had very little tutoring/teaching experience (My experience is with one 8th grade, pre-algebra student). That being said, I really enjoyed tutoring and will help out for free in any way that can fit in my schedule. I love teaching, I love lower level math (for whatever reason that may be), and I love helping people understand the basic concepts that will be the building blocks of future math classes.

I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a problem with that particular skill so they can see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill whether it is adding fractions or solving equations, etc. Then I'll give the student a problem to do on their own while I guide them through the steps. If they get off on a particular step I'll correct them immediately and get them on the right path.
