As an Iowa State graduate, I was very driven to not only achieve a great education but to actually learn the material set forth by my professors. At Iowa State I started with as a sociology major but throughout my career I was able to find additional interests and ended my tenure at Iowa State with a degree in Sociology and Political Science, with minors in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. Throughout these studies I have learned that basic logic can get around many of the learning impediments that individuals have. By getting on the same page with your students I believe that you are better able to relay the information to them in a way that they better understand. In my year of tutoring I have tutored students in Math, Sociology, Political Science, English and Philosophy.

I have tutored and mentored my friends and classmates in school. I feel comfortable guiding students and helping them with problem solving. I like to do research on problems i can not resolve and i try to solve them within a reasonable amount of time. There are different ways of going about solving a problem. There are chat rooms on chatzilla, google, netbeans.org and tutorials which guide one to the solution. I use the combination of all. I also carry my laptop around where ever possible. Work for me never ends. I am working 24/7. I take my programming skills and career very seriously and wouldn't jeopardize it in any circumstance. At the same time i am lenient, love diversity and a good joke. Tutoring is fun because you become a problem solver and a student all over again. I really enjoy getting people of all ages to learn. My day job is with Easter Seals where I work with all ages and disabilities. With both Easter Seals and tutoring, I found that it requires a wide variety of approaches to get my clients to learn. I have learned a lot of patience and creativity in this time. I have been constantly surprised and pleased when my students and I are able to achieve new heights in life-skills and the classroom.
At Amherst College, we were encouraged to pursue a wide variety of subjects in addition to our major. I studied math for several years, some Biology, Latin and Greek.
