I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. While teaching high school students and adults I have helped many struggling learners. One of my main goals in all interactions with students I strive to build their confidence. My teaching style is defined by my father, a teacher and coach. Successful in both the classroom and on the athletic field, he made sure that each student and athlete knew what was expected of them. What was expected of them was a mixture of hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and success. Success measured not necessarily by winning, for example, but by doing the best one can do with the gifts they had been given. In the end each student and athlete would learn the fundamentals of the given subject/sport to later in life build upon for their pleasure and, if necessary, to apply in a career capacity.

At Brigham Young University I started out in the Elementary Education Major and then switched to Sociology because I found it fascinating. however, I still focused my classes on education and cultural studies subjects. My experience is as broad as it is varied. When I taught at Sylvan, I taught every course they needed me to. When I taught professionally, I taught teams of scientists and then instructional designers. I'm comfortable with all ages and backgrounds.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring in high school then in college, I majored in mathematics to pursue a career in teaching. My career took another direction yet I continued my passion for teaching others through tutoring at local non-profits. Last year, I taught 8th grade math at a local public middle school.
