I believe that a firm grasp on the real world concept behind the subject being learned is the best way to integrate the knowledge in a usable way.
I have been tutoring since High School, and most recently have been teaching an MCAT prep course for Examkrackers. I Scored in the 95th percentile for the SAT, ACT, and MCAT. Teaching language is also very close to my heart. I currently work with international student groups and have worked with the ESL department in the past. I worked first hand with professor and teaching assistant and have learned what they are looking for. I believe in teaching concepts and helping students fully understand ideals rather than students just memorizing facts. This way no matter what the professor asks they will know how to answer questions and ace exams. If they just memorize things, they can get confused and get answers distorted. I believe in hands on learning and teaching. I would make "Jeopardy" games to quiz students and also have fun at the same time. By quizing on concepts that are being taught, it gives insight to what the student is understanding and therefore, I can adjust and clarify things that the student is not understanding. I enjoy teaching and helping students.
