A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children and adults alike. Everyone can learn; it is up to the teachers to find out how their students learn best. I was 14 years old when my younger brother was born, so I had the wonderful opportunity to learn firsthand that teaching requires a great deal of patience, knowledge, and flexibility. My goal in teaching is to maximize efficiency -- find out how the student learns best and tailor the teaching materials to meet his or her needs.
My pre-medical school coursework allowed me to gain conceptual and hands-on understanding in the areas of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology. As a recreation major, I have held a number of jobs working with children of all ages. My first job as a lifeguard and swim instructor helped me understand how to work with children ages three to fifteen and really get a feel for how their brains operate and the proper learning styles to use for each age. Moving on to my job as a camp counselor and staff member at 4-H Memorial Camp in Monticello I really started to familiarize myself with young adults and the way they behave in different settings.
