My professional experience has been divided almost equally between teaching and administrative jobs. I have approximately ten years of teaching experience including employment as an adjunct instructor in a college-level Intensive English Program, a business education teacher in a large public high school and a junior-high English teacher at a small Christian school. I also homeschooled my two older children during their 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade years. In addition I have roughly 14 years of administrative experience including serving as secretary to the president for a regional university and for the non-profit foundation associated with the school. A Little Bit About Me...

I am extremely friendly and love helping students learn my passion, accounting. I have experience in helping students with disabilities, and currently tutor a student with a disability. I really love the interaction I have with students, and my track record shows I know what I am doing - I have never had a student who did not increase their GPA after coming to me multiple times. I really prefer the student have looked over the material before coming to me, so we can target problem areas and avoid areas in which the student has gained a thorough understanding.
I am a certified CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) Level 2 tutor, and have tutored over 150 hours at UAH. A majority of those hours were logged as I played collegiate baseball for UAH as a pitcher. I will be graduating in May with my Master's degree in accounting, but would love to continue tutoring on the side.

I graduated from Wake Forest in 2008, double-majoring in Mathematics and Physics. I also took some courses in the Education Department, and substitute taught for public high schools and middle schools in Winston-Salem, NC and Metairie, LA. I have worked in tutoring programs for elementary school children approximately twice a week for a total of twelve months. I have recently learned HTML, PHP, and Javascript programming languages, and am the designer and programmer for the Facebook application Harry Potter House Sort.
I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters.
