My teaching style is highly creative to borderline eccentric! I have extensive training in the various learning styles and instinctively target the student's learning style in order to make the most progress. I am a firm believer in kinesthetic learning activities and of using a hands-on, mnemonic-driven approach to teaching. My varied background and life resume offers life experiences that I can use to expand students' varied situations.
I have enjoyed substitute teaching since 1991; it was a part- time occupation that worked well as I re-entered the college scene in order to advance my AA degree to a BA in Political Science. Life and destiny urged me to earn a teacher's certification in Texas, where I later worked as an ESL 4th-5th grade teacher in the Waco (Texas) Independent School District for three years. I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I have put to use not only in my writing but I am a proofreader to several other beginning author’s stories. They rely on me to fix their grammatical, spelling and usage errors so their writing flows more smoothly. In reading books I enjoy teaching others the overall theme, morals and observations that the author was trying to convey. I have developed my love for math and statistical formulas by applying what I learned in math classes to enjoy following sports teams stats better. I find that using numbers in several different areas promotes interest and learning.
