A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience teaching French and English at the high school level at a private/Catholic high school in Ventura County. I have held this full-time teaching position for 2 years. Prior to this, I worked at a public high school in Ventura County as both a Sophomore English teacher, and a teacher of English as a Second Language. My undergraduate education is in French literature and in coaching volleyball and swimming. My post graduate work is in teaching English and English as a second language. I am passionate about teaching and have a knack for foreign languages. I speak fluent French, and am proficient in Spanish and Italian. I am currently pursuing my Masters in English.

More About This Tutor...

My teaching style is very Socratic. I rarely give answers to students. I love to have them search and discover the answers on their own. This involves a lot of questions and guiding the student to the correct answer. When students discover the answer on their own it is much more rewarding and long lasting for them. I firmly believe in fostering critical thinking and building students' logical reasoning skills. I constantly remind them that the skills they are developing with me are not just valuable in math but stretch into real world situations as well and will help them throughout their entire life.
