A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching in different areas and capacities for three years now. I started by teaching English to Korean students in Daegu, South Korea. Here I taught all different skill levels and ages. When I returned to the United States I began working at Sylvan Learning Center. I was responsible for running the center. Here I was trained in many of the Sylvan Learning methodologies and feel very comfortable in identifying obstacles that hinder a students progression. At which time I incorporate learning strategies that help them get over the "hump"
My style is easy to get along with. I am friendly with my students but am able to keep the boundaries of the teacher student relationship in play at all times. I do not believe in giving students answers but rather leading them towards a natural discovery of the answers on their own.

Writing is one of my top subjects! For three years I taught high school seniors in an Advanced Composition class where they were being "trained" in the specific paper styles that are found in college classes. I am well aware of the writing process and the different types of papers colleges and high school require for graduation.

I am a very hands-on learner, so I tend to try to make things as hands on or as real to life as possible.
Since graduating from Baptist Bible College in 2006, I have been teaching high school English in Indiana for six years now. I taught three years at Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg, where I spanned English 9, 10, 11, Senior Speech, and Advanced Composition for seniors. My comments on tutoring Writing : Beginning and intermediate levels of writing require dedication to the practice of basics and then the transitional stretch to the intermediate level. I combine various styles from "old school" to best practices to differentiated offers.
