I have been teaching and tutoring in all levels of math for many years. I am a licensed teacher in the State of Indiana. I especially enjoy working with students one on one or in small groups because it is easy to see how they think and find out where they need the most help. I am now retired with over 30 years experience of teaching high school and college math.

My approach to tutoring is built around my belief that all students can learn. Once a proper foundation is in place, my strategy involves helping students master mathematical concepts one step at a time. What is sometimes taught in the classroom as a "single step" may in reality be several steps all rolled into one. My approach involves taking these "single steps" and breaking them down so each student can fully understand what is required and why. My teaching philosophy has developed through my experiences as a high school physics teacher, as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University, and through tutoring individual students. In my experience, high level of student participation is important. First, it allows students to at least start thinking towards a problem in their own way, and later start debating over what they have learned in the classroom.
