I graduated on December 16th, 2011 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a bachelors degree in Music Education with Cum Laude Honors (3.4 GPA). My teaching style varies on how I feel the student will learn best. Sometimes that may be through demonstration, others though sound. Some students read music better while others learn better through rote. I student taught for sixteen weeks from August 22nd, 2011 thru December 2nd, 2011. My first eight weeks I worked at a middle school and taught symphonic band, beginner band, and private lessons. I have been involved with youth since completing Bible College in 1978. I have two grown children who both completed college (my daughter cum laud in chem; University of Kentucky). I like to incorporate a sense of humor in my teaching - I believe when children can relax they are much more open to learning. I am also sensitive to children's different learning styles whether they are visual, auditory or kinesthetic, and tailor my approach accordingly. No two sessions are ever the same! Each student has unique needs and challenges and my job is to work "through the maze" and carry the message to the brain.
