After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a BA in English, I went on to pursue my teaching certification through an internship program. During that time and shortly following, I had the opportunity to work as a teacher's assistant in grades 3 and 5, a long term substitute in grade 3, and a long term substitute in a sixth grade Language Arts class. I worked as an in home private ABA therapist for two separate families, each with a child with autism. I worked individually with both children approximately 8-12 hours per week for over a year. I taught in a traditional ABA classroom with six students on the autism spectrum and all with other severe disabilities. I have also volunteered for many years as a bible school teacher.
