I enjoy teaching and finding ways for others to latch on to the ideas. I teach 4-H Shooting Sports each spring and summer. I am certified to instruct Archery and Pistol. I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. I also have worked six summers at a Salvation Army camp. Through these experiences I have worked with both gifted and special needs children and youth. I have a B.S. degree in Information Systems with over 30 years experience in the computer industry. I have 9 children which are home schooled (ages 3-17). I'm a math/science guy. I have taught Junior church in the past. I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. I try showing different ways of looking at something so the child will understand one way or another. I stress creativity and working things out for yourself as that is needed in life.

As a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University in General Science Physics, I have completed extensive coursework in the areas of math, science, and engineering. I am looking to obatin an accelerated teaching certificate and I believe this would be a good start for me. I have completed coursework in upper level biology and physics as well as general chemistry. I have completed math through calculus II.
