My comments on tutoring Social Studies : Certified to teach

I have worked for the past 13 years in accounting and management positions. I started in the Master of Education in the Teaching Arts at Mississippi College this past January and recieved by Class A Teacher's License in June of this year. I am certified to teach grades 4-8 in all four of the major subjects: math, science, social studies and language. I am also certified to teach grades 7-12 in the social studies area: US History, government, geography, and world history. I am also highly qualified to teach accounting and business because of the number of accounting and business classes that I have taken.

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned both my Bachelor's of Arts in English and my Master's of Science in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM, I served as the Assistant to the Graduate Reader as a graduate student, where my job was to proof graduate and Ph.D. students' theses and dissertations. This job, in particular, helped me become extremely familiar with APA and MLA formatting, as well as everyday grammar and word usage. I also took a number of education classes while persuing my Bachelor's degree.
I realize that, in order for a student to want to learn, the subject must be presented to them in an interesting way. I know I have the ability to make the subject relative to the child in a way that is both easy-to-understand, yet effective. I am extremely patient, enthuastic, and truly love the subject of English. The idea of helping a child who struggles with English or ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel my calling is working with children. My experience volunteering as a youth basketball and baseball coach has showed me that a child’s ability to learn is unlimited. I also believe that children can reach their full potential when placed in the right surrounding and with the right motivation. As an inner city youth coach, I strive to make a difference in all of my kids’ lives as players and as students.
After graduated with a BS in Agriculture Economics from Alcorn State University in May 2000, I have worked as an Agricultural Statistician for the National Agricultural Statistics Service. While working with NASS, I have taking a creative writing class to improve my writing ability. I have also taking Calculus I, II, and III to build on my math skills. I am on track to receive a master’s in Management at Belhaven University in July of 2010. During the past 10 years I ha ... read more
