I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions. I think that in today's public education system, with ever-growing class sizes some students get thrown to the wayside. These students need a more personalized learning plan that offers them head-to-head or small group discussions. I can relate to the child who remains silent because he doesn't think his question is smart enough. Subsequently, that child starts getting left behind little by little until they feel completely lost and abandoned and become disillusioned with the whole education system.
