I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. I began tutoring math for Stetson University which ranged from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I then began tutoring privately and I have tutored lower level math and advanced statistics. I have tutored a student who was failing calculus in class but then they earned the highest possible grade on the standardized test. I also have a degree in mathematics.
My teaching style involves a lot of examples and having the student answer the questions on the board. I am able to come up with examples off the top of my head and have the student work through the problem to prevent "dumb" mistakes (such as forgetting a minus sign). I am very patient and allow my students as much time as possible and encourage them to ask whenever they are stuck. I try to show that math can be fun and interesting and that there are applications out in the real world.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students learn math through repetention. Constantly doing problems until it becomes second nature and you don't think about anymore, it just happens. I believe the more problems you see solved, the easier it is to solve a new problem by basing the solving process on past experiences.
While attaining my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, I took high level math classes as electives since math came so easy to me. Because of this I did not have to spend as much time on the math classes and was able to concntrate more on my business classes.
