A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience in hands on teaching of students with their horses. I have worked on and off for many years helping memebers of local 4-H clubs prepare their animals for show. I enjoy seeing a student "click" with their project and be able to accomplish new goals. I think it is important to set specific goals for aech student and make those happen before you move on.
As a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University in General Science Physics, I have completed extensive coursework in the areas of math, science, and engineering. I am looking to obatin an accelerated teaching certificate and I believe this would be a good start for me. I have been a full-time teacher for the past three years and substitute taught for one year. The past two years I have taught seventh and eighth grade math and social studies and sixth grade reading. The classes at the school where I teach are ability leveled, I teach the on-level ability students. The students in these classes often need extra help and more time and patience in understanding and mastering concepts. I can teach in a classroom, and walk through the methods with many students. I have worked in a study hall type tutoring condition, which at times becomes a classroom teaching. I have also done personal tutoring. I can use the computer to teach math as programming a computer to solve the problems in proof that you understand the methods. I have found games to help others learn ideas like FOIL's Law for multiplying two binomials. One is applying the process to multiplying two two digit numbers: 13*13 = 169.
