A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with elementary, high school, and college-aged students, providing instruction in subjects ranging from English to biology. I am comfortable teaching a group, but I also have ample experience working one-on-one with students. I believe that course material should engage students. I do not believe that rote memorization is practical in most real-world situations, and I prefer to provide instruction in a manner that makes learning interesting and fun. I was a pre-med student until recently, and I was my high school Valedictorian. I have tutored children in the past from ages 7 to 13, but I am comfortable tutoring all ages. Genetics is one of my top subjects! I received my Masters in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Taught two sections of an Introductory Biology Laboratory and was a Teaching Assistant in Cellular Biology. I am currently obtaining another Masters in Genetic Counseling.

I tailor my teaching to the needs of my students. I like using their textbooks and assigning problems to do from the book since that will be material most likely tested. I also go over their homework assignments given by the instructor and can make up problems if the student requires the extra practice.
I have taught two sections of an introductory biology laboratory (Bio181) at the University of Arizona in 2011. Each section is three hours long and I prepare the lectures and weekly quizzes. I also grade lab reports, computer assignments, lab projects and hold office hours for two hours each week.
