I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. My comments on tutoring Writing : My students have demonstrated their writing ability in their emails with native English speakers in the business world. My students in school recieved better grades in their work. I measured my success as a tutor by my students test scores and feedback from business colleagues.

I believe learning should be two way. Students should learn from a teacher and the teacher should be willing to learn from the students. My lessons are personalized to the student needs. My lessons are interactive.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with kids and teaching the things that I have learned. I am confident that I can make concepts as simple as possible, so people who usually have trouble understanding ideas in math and science may have a breakthough. Coming from a very competitive school like UCLA I have acquired skills in test taking which are very valuable and I would like to pass these on to prospective college students.

My teaching style is to individualize instruction for each child. I believe that every child has their own way of learning and I would teach in a way so that they could be successful. I teach one concept at a time, building on each concept as they master it. I have a style that is very positive and encouraging so as to keep the student motivated.
