I believe in tailoring each lesson to each student's individual abilities and learning methods. For students in school bands, I try to provide lessons that augment and complement what they learn in band class, focusing on areas of performance that may not receive attention in a group setting. For all my students, regardless of level or instrument, I help them learn music that they want to learn, while making sure they get the fundamental training that they need. I encourage and assist my students in finding opportunities to perform in solo performances and with other groups. I also pride myself in creating an environment where the students are comfortable asking questions to help improve their playing.

I attended West Coast Baptist College from 2008 to 2012 to become a math instructor. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Math Education upon graduation in 2012. My first teaching position was in Greenville, NC at Greenville Christian Academy. I taught Jr High (7th-9th grades) math for 4 years. My family has recently moved to Murfreesboro, TN to teach at Franklin Road Christian School. I just completed my first year teaching at this school. I have always told my classes, "Learning can be fun; and if it's not, you may not be doing it right." Of course, that does not mean learning isn’t work; but part of growing up – and selecting a career – is learning that work can be enjoyable. I should mention that it is not my way to enforce memorization for the sake of it. If you understand concepts, that is much better. I always say “an example is the embodiment of a rule”. I am always committed to a student’s success; and will not let him or her give up. The biggest thrill in teaching is watching a student suddenly understand a concept.
